Thailand is the Gay-friendly destination that has EVERYTHING
Looking for a great winter getaway that’s exciting, tropical, and gay friendly? Look no further than the Land of Smiles: Thailand. The International LGBTQ+ Travel Association says Thailand has been embracing Queer travelers for decades, so it’s no wonder it's such a popular destination for our community. (It’s also ranked among the safest for LGBTQ+ travelers in Asia.)
This Southeast Asian country, located slightly to the west of Vietnam, is actually larger than California, so there’s a vacation here for every type of traveler—whether you want a bustling urban adventure or a relaxing stay by the beach.
Love that nightlife? Bangkok, the bustling capital near the center of the country, is the heart of Thailand's LGBTQ+ scene. The main gayborhood is located around the historic Si Lom Road, with the clubs down Soi (or alleyway) 2, the bars down Soi 4, and massage parlors on Soi 6. For a uniquely Thai experience, catch a kathoey cabaret show at the Calypso Cabaret.
For the more culturally curious: Chiang Mai in the north is a cultural jewel and can serve as a jumping off point to adventures in Thailand’s mountainous north. The city itself is home to over 300 temples (or “wats”), including the world famous Wat Phra That Doi Suthep.
If you’d rather relax… Thailand’s coastal south is home to stunningly beautiful beaches, clear turquoise waters, white sandy shores, and vibrant marine life. The country offers a diverse range of beach experiences, from lively party scenes to serene, secluded escapes. The center of LGBTQ life is the island of Phuket, which has at least four Queer-friendly beaches.
The cost: The most expensive cost will be airfare, which can range from $600 to $2,000, depending on where you’re flying from and how far in advance you book. The good news is everything will be cheaper once you get there, a budget hostel or hotel can run as cheap as $10-$30 a night, a midrange hotel cost between $40-$100 per night, and luxury stays are $100+ a night.
Whatever you pay, with proper planning a trip to Thailand could be the trip of a lifetime.

Q&A Time:
Last week we asked, do you have any end-of-year vacations planned for 2024? Here are the results:
A lot of people wrote in saying they had Christmas travels plans… go off!
“Going to go to Lubbock, TX for Christmas and bringing my boyfriend back to help me pack-up my stuff so I can permanently stay in Lubbock, TX!”
“Headed to the Rose Bowl Parade and Game. Guess it also a trip to start off the New Year as well.”
“Going to LA for Halloween in WeHo then over to Palm Springs for Pride!”
This week we want to know: do you use a travel agent to book travel?
