15 Up-and-Coming Destinations for LGBTQ+ Travelers
One of 15 spots that made the list.
We love an old standby — but the next wave of Gay friendly destinations is here. New and exciting spots are emerging as vibrant and inclusive destinations for the LGBTQ+ community, and we’re running them down.
From small coastal towns to major cities, if you're looking to explore places that offer rich culture, dynamic nightlife, and a welcoming atmosphere outside of the regular standbys, check out these up-and-coming gay-friendly cities that deserve a spot on your travel radar.
1. Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
Rehoboth Beach has long been a popular vacation spot, but it’s increasingly becoming a favorite among LGBTQ+ travelers. In addition to its beautiful shores and lively boardwalk, this coastal town offers a plethora of gay-owned bars, shops, restaurants, and events. Poodle Beach at the south end of town is a lively gay beach while North Shores is a popular lesbian beach. Open house parties galore. The summer months bring a bunch of eclectic festivals — plus gays from D.C., Baltimore, Philly, and beyond.
2. Valencia, Spain
Often overshadowed by Madrid and Barcelona, Valencia is stepping into the spotlight as a top LGBTQ+ destination in Spain. Known for its beautiful beaches, futuristic architecture, and vibrant arts scene, Valencia also hosts a lively Pride parade and numerous LGBTQ+ events throughout the year. The Ruzafa neighborhood is particularly popular, boasting trendy bars, cafes, and clubs that cater to the community. Don’t miss the gay Pinedo Beach in the Albufera which has a clothing-optional section.
3. Narrowsburg, New York
Nestled in the Catskills just a couple hours outside of NYC, Narrowsburg is emerging as a top LGBTQ+ destination, perfect for those seeking a mix of nature and quaint charm. This tiny village barely has any cell service, but boasts an active Queer community — and there’s plenty to keep you busy…
